Viacom Outdoor Delays Launch of XTP

Viacom Outdoor has confirmed that the launch of its XTP cross-track projection technology in the London Underground has been delayed due to "safety issues".

Trials of the XTP system, which projects digital images onto special screens in tube tunnels, were due to begin this month and Viacom has secured 10 major brands to partner the project (see

Last year Viacom Outdoor predicted that moving image technology would be one of the key revenue streams for the company's growth during 2002 (see Viacom Outdoor Creates Subway Department) and in February the company expanded its XTP department to cope with growing interest in the project.
