More O'Ferrall To Rebrand As Clear Channel

Clear Channel's UK billboard company, More O'Ferrall, is to be rebranded as Clear Channel as part of a £5 million upgrading programme aimed at positioning the company as the country's leading force in outdoor advertising.

The new name and livery, which was unveiled by Clear Channel Worldwide's president and chief operating officer Mark Mays, will appear on all 9,000 48-sheets and 2,000 96-sheets nationwide by next spring. The company's street furniture division, Adshel, and taxi advertising business, Taxi Media, will not be affected by the rebrand.

The newly renamed billboard company will announce its new campaigns and marketing strategy over the coming weeks and will also embark on a £5 million rebuilding and upgrading programme.

The move follows the company's acquisition of Score Outdoor from Scottish Radio Holdings for £33.5 million (see Score Outdoor Sale To Create Third Force In Market). Clear Channel, which merged the company into its own poster division, now hopes to create a third national force in billboard advertising to rival JCDecaux and Maiden (see IPA Outdoor Welcomes Clear Channel UK Acquisition).

Commenting on the move, Jonathan Lewis, managing director of Clear Channel's UK billboard division, said: "Our recent acquisition of Score Outdoor is the culmination of £100 million of investment by our parent company in More O'Ferrall over the past 3 years, and is the perfect moment to introduce their name to the streets of the UK."

Stevie Spring, chief executive of Clear Channel UK added: "Clear Channel is a worldwide outdoor brand which we were looking to adopt over here as soon as we had a consistent national offering. Merging Score with More O'Ferrall gives us just that."

Clear Channel UK recently appointed Jason Munslow as marketing manager with responsibility for overseeing the Adshel and More O'Ferrall brands (see Clear Channel Appoints New Marketing Manager).
