For the third month in a row Guardian.co.uk was the most popular national newspaper website according to data released by ABC.

Despite a slight shuffle in rankings recently the Guardian website gained 4.1 million unique users over the month of November, attracting the highest rise and more traffic than the other newspaper sites audited by auditing bureau. This marks the first time a website from this group has reported users of over 35 million, meaning Guardian.co.uk has an impressive YOY increase of 37.4%.

As with October's data release, November shows the top three sites are remaining above the 30 million mark. Mail Online remained in second place and gained 800,000 more users, reaching 31.2 in total over the month. Over the past twelve months the website has doubled its users.

After losing users in October, Telegraph.co.uk also gained 800,000 over November and remained in third position with 30.8 million. The Telegraph site has enjoyed a YOY increase of 34%.

The Times website hasn't seen much activity over the year and actually lost 3% of users YOY. Sun Online fell to fifth place with 20.2 million unique users. It has been a roller coaster year for the website, seeing a huge rise early in the year that resulted in coming out on top in February 2009, but falling back to the 20 million mark following that. Sun Online is looking better than it did twelve months ago though with a YOY increase of 23%.

Mirror Digital Group saw a slight rise in traffic in November, gaining under 500,000 new users. While it remains one of the least popular national news websites audited by ABC it has had a great year, seeing a YOY increase of 80%.

In a year when National Newspaper websites continually broke records regarding the amount of people logging on, Independent.co.uk remains in nearly the same place it was in November 2008, seeing a YOY rise of 4%. Losing 800,000 users over the month sees a total of 8.9 million unique users for November.
