December 2009 television viewing figures reveal a 0.6 percentage point fall for Five on December 2008.
ITV1 and Channel 4 were also down year on year according to the latest data, as were BBC One and BBC Two.
Other channels did manage to post a year on year rise in December, however.
All Viewing
Five's viewing share fell 0.6 percentage points to 4.2% in December 2009, the second largest percentage point fall of the terrestrial channels.
Channel 4's share dipped 0.5 percentage points to 6.6% , a simliar fall to BBC Two, down 0.4 percentage points to 7.7% in December.
The largest fall came for BBC One, down 0.7 percentage points year on year to 21.2%. Despite the overall fall in share for the month, December saw the finale of Strictly Come Dancing, which ended with a high of more than 11.2 million viewers.
ITV1 fell a relatively small 0.2 percentage points, to 17.7%.
Other channels were up 2.3 percentage points year on year to 41.8%.

Digital Viewing
BBC One and BBC Two's shares of viewing remained static year on year in digital homes, at 20.6% and 7.2% respectively.
ITV1 recorded a slight increase over the year to the end of December, up 0.3 percentage points to 17.2%.
Channel 4 was down slightly, by 0.1 percentage point year on year, leaving it with a 6.3% share of viewing in digital homes. Five was also down, by 0.4 percentage points, to 4.1%.
The viewing share of other channels increased by 0.4 percentage points, hitting 44%.
