ITV1's Identity, airing during the same slot, managed to attract a peak of over 4 million viewers, before settling for a 3.5 million average, and a share of 14.6% - down on last weeks 4.2 million average, and 17.4% share.

Earlier in the evening, ITV1 dominated with its soaps lineup. Emmerdale, airing at 7pm, attracted an average viewing figure of 6.6 million, and a share of 33.2%. The first episode of Coronation Street, airing at 7.30pm, secured 8.3 million viewers and a 37.6% share, while the second episode, at 8.30pm, managed 8.1 million and 34.7%.

BBC One briefly took over at 8pm, with Eastenders attracting over 9 million viewers, and a share of 38.9%.

Daytime ratings were mostly balanced between BBC One and ITV1, with BBC One claiming the morning slots and ITV1 stepping in during the afternoon.  However, Channel 4 secured the top spot on two occasions yesterday, with Deal or No Deal at 4.10pm and again with the end of Big Brother at 10.45pm.
