  • Egmont Fleetway is launching a new title for the pre-teen girl’s market on 24 May. Go Girl will aim for the 7-11 year old market currently targeted by the BBC’s Girl Talk, with editorial content including celebrities, make-up, beauty and fashion. The monthly title will carry a free gift with every issue and will be priced at £1.40. Its initial print run will be 150,000, while expected circulation is 100,000.
  • FT Business is hoping to attract male and female student readers for a new free title Strapt for Cash. The magazine aims to promote the FT brand by offering financial advice aimed at a youth audience. Lifestyle-based articles will be given a money-management slant, with articles such as how to buy cars or clothes cheaper and how to manage bank accounts and credit cards. The first issue will launch simultaneously in online and print form on 17 May, with 100,000 issues being distributed through the Student Unions of the top 100 UK universities. Thereafter, an issue aimed at freshers will come out in September and another aimed at graduating students will be released in May next year.
  • A one-off title, Guide to Euro 2000, was launched by Paragon on 11 May. The 132-page magazine gives details on all the nations competing in the football tournament and assessments of key players. A free book is included, called Amazing Facts of Football 2000 and the cover price is £3.99. The print run was 120,000.
  • Recently established publishers Times UK are launching a new monthly fitness title on 18 May, called Fit for Life. Aimed primarily at women aged 21-40, the publishers also expect to attract some male readers in the 28-40 age bracket. Editorial will promote healthy eating and exercise and will also include lifestyle interviews with celebrities. First issue price will be £1.45, thereafter £1.85. Times UK will spend just under £25,000 on promoting the first issue, including adverts on buses, balloons and at London’s main line rail stations.
