IPC Ignite To Launch NME Radio

IPC Ignite’s music magazine NME has teamed up with Virgin Radio to launch NME Radio.

The new station will launch later this week as an online radio service via www.nmeradio.com and will be available as a data service on London’s Digital multiplex allowing listeners to tune in via their PC’s. It will also be developed across other platforms including; satellite, digital and terrestrial.

NME Radio will offer a round the clock stream of music, a weekly playlist assembled by the NME staff and a daily news service.

Virgin Radio, owned by Scottish Media group (SMG), will provide technical, programming, production and advertising services for the station, which will be the first radio launch for IPC Media.

Managing director of IPC Ignite, Mike Soutar, said: “This partnership between IPC and Virgin brings together the strongest online music property with the UK’s biggest online radio broadcaster, and enables us to extend the NME brand into yet another platform. It’s a further example of our media-neutral brand-centric strategy. As the project migrates to other mediums, it will also be an exceptionally effective way of co-ordinating fully integrated cross media promotions.
