12Snap Creates Media Sales Division

Mobile marketing company 12Snap has created a specialist media sales division to cope with the increasing demand for SMS advertising.

The new division, 12Snap Media, will offer clients access to a mobile database containing over 8.5 million permission based UK phone numbers and will allow brands to develop SMS campaigns profiled by age, gender, region and interest.

12Snap’s commercial director Matt Cotton will head the new division, which will employ five staff responsible for working with agencies and marketing companies to deliver integrated mobile marketing campaigns.

Anne de Kerckhove, managing director of 12Snap UK, said: “Our mobile sales division is an important revenue generating stream and part of 12Snap’s strategy to offer combined comprehensive solutions for mobile marketing. Running mobile campaigns for high profile blue chip companies has increased our profile immensely and this has resulted in a surge of enquiries for integrated activity and media sales. We need to resource this area to provide the best possible service for the client and the consumer.”

In January 12Snap launched what it claimed to be Europe’s largest retail-based SMS campaign to promote the launch of Monsters Inc. in McDonalds fast food outlets across the UK. de Kerckhove described the campaign as a “huge leap forward” for the mobile medium (see 12Snap Launches Monster SMS Campaign).

Rival mobile marketing firm Flytxt also recently announced that an SMS campaign designed for Cadbury helped the company to enjoy a near record year in terms of profits and generated around 4 million responses in a two week period (see SMS Campaign Boosts Profits For Cadbury).
