Cosmo Launches Women And Wheels Website

Natmags’ Cosmopolitan magazine has launched motoring website for women called Cosmowheels. The site contains information on buying vehicles including cars, motorbikes and bicycles, alongside information of new and used vehicles for sale.

The site was created and is managed by Wheels Link, which acts as agent for a series of Wheels sites including Esquirewheels. Cosmowheels offers advice on budgets, vehicle suitability, test drive information, deals on insurance and financial advice.

Unlike its closest women’s market rival, Glamour, Cosmopolitan does not have a web presence beyond basic product information. Natmags had been planning a women’s website, but put those plans on ice a year ago because of the challenging economic situation with regards to the internet. The evidence of defunct ventures such as IPC’s BeMe and DMGT’s Charlotte Street suggest this prudence was justified, but this week women’s portal iVillage.co.uk was upbeat as it released its first ABCe audit result, which places it at the head of the game (see ABCe Puts iVillage At Top Of Women’s Web).
