Outrider To Merge With Digital Edge

Digital marketing agency, Outrider is to merge with digital media shop, The Digital Edge, following the acquisition of the Tempus Group by WPP at the end of last year.

The new company will keep the Outrider name in the UK and Europe but will be known as The Digital Edge in US, where the Outrider identity will be used for search marketing. Outrider companies including the online advertising and iTV creative agency Incline and web developer Good Technology will retain their identities.

Rob Norman will continue as global CEO of Outrider, with Kirsti Wilson as managing director in London. Brad Fairhead, previously head of The Digital Edge in the UK and Europe, will become international client services director across the group.

The Digital Edge was the online arm of The Media Edge, which merged with WPP’s media agency CIA to form CIA:Media Edge when WPP bought Tempus last year (see WPP Will Buy Tempus).

Earlier in the month Digital marketing company ValueClick announced plans to merge its business with interactive ad-technology firm Be Free. The merger will bring together both companies’ online and offline technology and media services to create a new global organisation under the ValueClick brand (see ValueClick Merges With Be Free).
