Growth Continues For Online Advertising

Internet advertising is increasing, according to the latest research from LemonAd, which shows that the number of websites being used by the UK’s top ten online advertisers grew by 24% during March.

The research shows that computer manufacturer Dell ran the most online ad campaigns during March, followed by Freeserve, which used over 50 sites to advertise its flat rate internet access during the first half of the month. Financial companies IFC Loans and Zurich Financial Services also advertised heavily during March as did British Gas and William Hill Online.

UK managing director of LemonAd, Simon Bright, said: “This research shows that the weekly top ten is dominated by technology and finance organisations and the underlying trend is very encouraging, with the average number of sites used by the top ten advertisers climbing from 38 to 47 sites.”

Recent research from Forrester shows that internet advertising outpaced the rest of the UK media industry during 2001, rising 28% year on year. Overall UK online advertising market reached £122m in 2001, with financial services advertisers dominating the sector (see UK Online Advertising Grows 28% In 2001).
