Virgin Radio Tops Net Streaming Table

Two UK radio stations were ranked first and second in the world in terms of hours of programming streamed on the web during March. Virgin Radio streamed over 1.2m hours of programming during the month, taking first position in a chart compiled by internet radio audience measurement service Measurecast, while Jazz FM, which ranked first in February, took second place, streaming 995,000 hours. Jazz FM also had the largest audience, with over 212,000 listeners.

Measurecast measured a total of 1,414 internet radio stations from around the world during March. Between them they streamed a combined total of almost 28m hours of programming to over 3.3m people worldwide. The single largest age group listening was 25-34 year old, who made up 29% of the audience, but the medium is currently more popular with men, who made up 69% of listeners.
