RAJAR Results Q1 2002- London Stations
RAJAR figures for the first period of 2002 contained a mixed bag for London radio stations. Jazz FM managed a 41% period on period increase in reach, rising to 802,000, but among the larger stations some losses in reach were seen.
Capital 95.8 still leads the field in terms of reach, with 2.7 million, but saw a period on period decrease of 8.7%. Nearest contenders Heart 106.2 and Kiss 100 dropped 1.6% to 1.68 million and 0.9% to 1.62 million. However, Magic 105.4 managed a 7% gain and Capital Gold London rose 6.8%.
Among the smaller stations, Fusion 107.3 saw an impressive period on period increase in reach of 40%, but Liberty 963-972, whose licence is being readvertised by the Radio Authority, saw a drop of almost 60%.
In terms of share, Capital 95.8 retains the lead attracting 10% of listening despite the worst period on period fall in this group. The largest increase in percentage point terms was seen at Jazz FM, which has jumped 1.3 percentage points to 2.2%.
