TalkSPORT In World Cup Deal With Ginsters

Wireless Group owned TalkSPORT has secured Ginsters as the sponsor of its World Cup competition.

The deal will see Ginsters support TalkSPORT’s summer football coverage as the “unofficial snack food of football fans.” The sponsorship features a three-week on-air promotion known as “do the double,” which is linked to an eight-week on-pack contestant entry initiative.

TalkSPORT branding will be carried on the packages of Ginsters products to support the promotion, which will run throughout May and June, with the first on-air competition beginning on 3 June.

Commenting on the deal, Larry File, marketing controller at Ginsters, said: “TalkSPORT, being the unofficial voice of football, is a credible station that will help spread our message to football supporters and gain momentum for this promotion.”

In March TalkSPORT signed a deal with the UK’s largest interactive betting service, Blue Square, to sponsor special sports features during its coverage of this summer’s World Cup tournament (see TalkSPORT Secures World Cup Sponsor).

According to RAJAR data for the three months ending March 2002, TalkSPORT saw its weekly reach increase by 11.7% year on year to 2,416,000.
