Opus Secures £250,000 Sponsorship Of Classic FM

Classic FM has signed a sponsorship deal with Bank of Scotland Corporate Banking worth £250,000.

The deal, which was negotiated through GWR’s sales house Opus, will see the bank become the official sponsor of the station’s weeknight news programme, Classic Newsnight, for the next six-months.

Classic Newsnight, which is the station’s only speech-based programme, runs between 6.30pm and 7.30pm and focuses on the day’s national and international news stories. The show, which is aimed at business executives, has approximately 1.1 million weekly listeners, 700,000 of whom are ABC1s.

Classic FM will write and record trails and credits for the Bank of Scotland’s radio branding of the Newsnight programme, which has previously been sponsored by IBM and United Airlines.

Mike Howard, associate director of marketing at the Bank of Scotland, said: “We are continually looking for innovative methods of reaching our target market of senior decision makers. The sponsorship of Classic Newsnight provides exactly that.”

The deal was put together by Opus’ sales and promotions executive, Louise Tinder, sales executive, Shehnaz Shirkhiel and Feather Brooksbanks’ Alison Tinder.

Opus recently expanded its sales team with the appointment of former Emap and Teletext sales executive, Caroline Holmes. Holmes, who took up the new agency executive position earlier this month, is responsible for selling radio ad spots across The Mix network (see Opus Adds New Agency Executive To The Mix).
