Chrysalis Revenues 15%pt Stronger Than Radio Sector

Revenues at Chrysalis Radio are continuing to outperform the market and are expected to show a 9.5% increase during the 12 months to August 2002, the group announced in a trading statement this morning. This compares to an anticipated decline of 5.0% for the UK radio sector as a whole.

Revenues at Chrysalis are predicted to hit £47.7 million for the period; after accounting for associate income, overall reported radio revenues will be £49.0 million – a 11.7% increase on the same period a year earlier. The group says that its audiences have grown by 12.0% in the period, compared to a 3.0% growth for commercial radio as a whole.

The group’s figures recently have been consistently stronger than those of many of its key rivals in the UK radio market.

Chrysalis says that this 15% points growth outperformance of the radio sector has been driven by the audience growth and by increases in the rate of conversion of listening hours to revenue. It expects this conversion rate improvement to continue and to remain a key driver of growth as Chrysalis Radio moves into its ‘next phase of development’.
