Fox Kids Teams Up With The Sun For Cartoon Promotion

Fox Kids is promoting its half-term programming and its new cartoon, Shin Chan, with a free A5 comic in The Sun and a TV advertising campaign.

The promotion will see the comic inserted into 3 million copies of The Sun on Saturday 19th October. During the October half-term week the Fox Kids channel will be branded “Cheeky Week” and will feature special Shin Chan promotions.

The initial campaign will be supported by TV ads on Sky One, Nickelodeon, The Cartoon Network and Boomerang.

Commenting on the initiative, Allan Stenhouse, marketing director at Fox Kids UK, said: “The October half-term period is a very important time of the year for the channel. The UK TV premiere of the new series of the hugely popular cartoon Shin Chan provides a great opportunity to put together a fun and engaging promotion to keep kids entertained during half-term and to drive ratings. Linking with The Sun is a perfect brand fit for such an irreverent character as Shin Chan.”

Earlier this year The Cartoon Network arranged a summer campaign with cereal manufacturer Kellogg in which characters from the TV channel’s shows “took over” from the characters on cereal packets (see Cartoon Network Teams With Kellogg For Summer).
