Sunday Mirror Launches New Travel Supplement

The Sunday Mirror has launched a new 24-page colour travel supplement called Holidays.

The new supplement, which launched last Sunday, will focus on all aspects of holiday and travel and will be edited by Sunday Mirror journalist, Sarah Whitfield-King.

Tina Weaver, editor of the Sunday Mirror, commented: “The launch of Holidays reflects our readers growing interest in travel and holidays in the UK and abroad. We will be the first tabloid to show our commitment to this expanding market by devoting a section entirely to it.”

The supplement will feature information and advice about a variety of destinations to suit different budgets and readers will be invited to share their experiences of different resorts and holiday packages.

There will also be a weekly round-up of the best family holidays for under £500, plus features on more exotic and aspirational destinations such as the Seychelles, Texas, Morocco and African safaris.

Broadsheet rival, the Telegraph, recently announced a similar initiative, with the launch of a series of three special travel supplements, designed to coincide with the January holiday booking season (see Telegraph Gets A Flying Start With Travel Deals).

The latest monthly ABC figures for November 2002 show that the Sunday Mirror has seen its circulation decline by 2.6% year on year to 1,701,469, down from 1,747,727 in the same period the previous year.
