Enpocket Appointed To Sell Emap’s SMS Databases

Enpocket has secured the contract to expand Emap’s mobile media representation by selling its mobile marketing databases to advertisers.

The branded databases have been created by Emap as a way of generating extra revenue from the popularity of its leading magazine and radio brands. They consist of readers and listeners that have signed up to specific SMS services to receive third party mobile marketing messages.

Commenting on the win, Richard Firminger, UK managing director of Enpocket said: “The Emap properties are some of the strongest in UK media, providing targeting of hard to reach audiences by category of interest in uniquely powerful branded contexts.”

He added: “Marketers can target say, female youth with a personal cosmetics offer endorsed by Smash Hits, or, for example, deliver a promotion of a London club event to select Kiss 100 listeners.”

Emap recently moved to increase the take-up of SMS services across its entire media portfolio by creating the new role of mobile business director. Former business director of youth, Gillian Kennedy, was appointed to the role, which involves working across Emap’s radio, magazine, TV, online and mobile data-bases to create bespoke interactive cross-media and standalone packages for clients (see Emap To Boost Wireless Up-Take Across Media Portfolio).
