Bloomberg Markets Launches On News-Stands

Bloomberg News’ financial title, Bloomberg Markets, is to go on sale at news-stands for the first time next month across the UK, the US, Europe, Canada, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The magazine, which will launch in February in 25 cities, will have a cover price of £3.25 in the UK. The title has previously only been available to those who use Bloomberg’s news wire services and to business subscribers.

The magazine will be published monthly and will focus on the financial community. It will include interviews, features, investment trends and strategies, as well as lifestyle articles.

Analysts may find it surprising that Bloomberg is bringing the title to the news-stand as the economic recession continues to diminish the global financial community. Even the Financial Times has suffered from the downturn and is hoping that a forthcoming re-vamp will change its fortunes (see Financial Times Set For New Year Relaunch).

However, Trevor Fellows, publisher of the magazine, claims: “We are responding to a demand from people in the financial community who have been eager to read the magazine, but who have not had access to it. The word on Wall Street, in the City, and around the world is that the magazine is now a must-read”.

According to Bloomberg, the magazine already has 200,000 established readers, a number it is hoping to build on with its entrance to the news-stand.
