Future Expands Digital Portfolio With New Launch

Future Publishing is expanding its computing and creative magazine portfolio with the launch of a new monthly magazine for digital camera enthusiasts.

Digital Camera Shopper will be unveiled later this month as a spin-off to the recently launched Digital Camera magazine (see Future Rebrands Computer Titles And Details New Launch). The 148-page title will be priced at £4.99 and will provide buying information on all types of digital cameras and their accessories.

The magazine is intended to provide readers with an overview of all products on the market and will include detailed reviews into the pros and cons of the various models. Each issue of the magazine will also feature a covermounted CD ROM providing computer software for digital camera users.

The launch will be backed by an extensive promotional campaign both at point-of-sale and across the recently rebranded Future Digital portfolio.

Commenting on the launch, Dave Taylor, group publisher of Digital Camera Shopper, said: “Following the successful launch of Digital Camera Magazine last autumn, we are now looking to complement this title with a comprehensive buyer’s guide.”

He added: “Digital Camera Shopper provides a unique offering as the only monthly magazine in the market dedicated 100% to buying advice. Tutorials are only included as a means of showing readers what more they can achieve with their photographs by buying a certain piece of kit.”

Earlier this month Future Publishing launched PSNext in an attempt to capitalise on the growing popularity of PlayStation 2 games consoles (see Future Publishing Launches PlayStation 2 Magazine).

The specialist consumer magazine publisher also recently announced that it moved into the black during 2002, posting a £10.7 million pre-tax profit. Future launched 13 new magazines last year and saw advertising revenues rise by 7%.
