Chrysalis Launches LBC Brand Team For National Clients

Chrysalis Radio Sales has announced plans to create a dedicated brand team to offer clients integrated sales and sponsorship opportunities across its London-based speech and news stations, LBC 97.3 FM and LBC News 1152 AM.

The team, which will be managed by LBC Group head, Vicky Spencer, will work out of Chrysalis Radio’s London’s sales house and will use sector specific research to expand revenue streams into emerging advertiser markets.

It will also liase with PR agencies and third party media partners to further develop and grow revenues for the LBC brand, which relaunched following its acquisition from GWR earlier this year for £23.5 million (see Chrysalis Strengthens London Offering With LNR Acquisition).

The relaunch saw talk radio station, LBC 97.3, move on the more popular FM waveband and rolling news service, LBC News, transfer to the AM frequency. Since then the LBC brand has secured a number of high-profile deals with advertisers including P&O, Sky and Unilever.

Leading drinks brand Gordon’s Gin also recently agreed to sponsor LBC 97.3 FM’s Saturday afternoon show with Roland Rivron.

The latest RAJAR listening figures for the three months to June 2003 show that LBC 97.3 FM saw its weekly reach increase by 24.6% year on year to 517,000. LBC News 1152 AM also performed strongly with a 23% improvement during the same period to 444,000.

Gerard Bridges, managing director of Chrysalis Radio Sales, said: “The development of this team sees our next step towards selling LBC as a strong brand. Since relaunch, the stations have changed significantly, and this move underlines our commitment to the brand and will develop revenues disproportionately.”

Last month Capital Radio moved to strengthen its position in London by restructuring its senior management team and putting veteran programming executive, Keith Pringle, in charge of its flagship Capital 95.8 FM station (see Capital Shakes Up Management To Win Back Listeners).
