LBC Raids BBC For New Presenters

Chrysalis Radio’s London-based news and talk radio station, LBC 97.3 FM, has boosted its line up with the addition of former BBC royal correspondent, Jennie Bond and ex-Five Live presenter Fi Glover.

Bond is being lined up to present a variety of programmes across the station’s schedule and will also appear in her best know role, as royal commentator.

Commenting on her appointment, Steve Kyte, programme director, said “We are thrilled to welcome Jennie to LBC 97.3 FM. She’s the country’s best known royal correspondent and our listeners will get first hand insight into what really goes on behind the Palace gates.”

Fi Glover, who recently announced she was taking a sabbatical from Radio 5 Live, is set to present a regular slot from her new home in New York. Fi-Mail From America will be part of Krishnan Guru-Murthy’s Sunday morning current affairs show, which airs between 10am and 12pm.

Commenting on Glover’s new slot, Kyte added: “Fi is a unique talent. Her wit and intelligence have made her one of the country’s most popular broadcasters. I’m thrilled she will be appearing on LBC 97.3.”

The appointments are the latest in a number of high profile signings at the station, which boasts a variety of presenters, including outspoken Sun columnist, Jane Moore (see Jane Moore To Join LBC Breakfast Show).

The latest RAJAR figures for the second quarter of 2003 brought good news to LBC 97.3 FM with weekly reach increasing 24.6% year on year to 517,000.

Last month Chrysalis launched a major outdoor advertising campaign to promote LBC 97.3 FM (see Chrysalis To Promote LBC 97.3 With Outdoor Ad Campaign).
