Emap Appoints First Ever FHM Cross-Media Director

Emap has appointed James Mallinson as its first ever cross-media director with responsibility for developing the FHM brand across a range of platforms.

The role has been created in response to the increasing demand for cross-media campaigns and for brand-focussed solutions for FHM. It will see Mallinson, previously FHM advertisement manager, work exclusively on all areas of the FHM brand including the core magazine, FHM.com and FHM Collections.

Mallinson will report into Suzy Berry, director at Emap Advertising, and James Carter, publishing director for FHM. This will involve him working to maximise cross-media promotional revenue and managing FHM‘s halo properties such as 100 Sexiest Women and High Street Honey’s.

Commenting on the appointment, Carter said: “We are very pleased to be welcoming James into this role which will harness the exceptional reach of FHM magazine and combine it with the power of our many interactive channels to offer the most creative and effective solutions for advertisers.”

Emap claims that FHM has seen a 400% increase in cross media revenue with FHM UK continuing to strengthen its market reach. The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2003 show that the magazine saw its circulation increase by a healthy 3.4% year on year to 600,568, in what was a difficult period for the men’s lifestyle sector.

Reports suggest that Emap is preparing to shake-up the men’s magazine market with the launch of the first weekly title targeting males interested in sport, news, entertainment, gossip and glamorous women (see Emap Set To Shake-Up Market With New Men’s Magazine).
