Sales Director Roberts Leaves Virgin

Newspapers Virgin Radio confirmed to NewsLine today that sales director Lee Roberts has left the station by mutual agreement.

This comes weeks after the appointment of a new chief executive Fru Hazlitt, who joined from Yahoo, where she had been managing director, having previously been head of sales at Capital Radio (see SMG Strengthens Hold Over Virgin Radio).

Hazlitt replaced John Pearson, who left the company at the beginning of April. Roberts took over as sales director of Virgin early in 2003, following the departure of Mark Swift, having been with the station since its launch ten years earlier.

The merger of Capital Radio and GWR has also seen a number of senior radio sales and marketing personnel leaving. Just yesterday it was announced that Peter Charlton, national sales director for the local radio group at Opus was to take up a senior role at Viacom in July (see Viacom Outdoor Raids GWR For Sales Chief)

Jo Daly will be joining Virgin from Mediacom as head of agency sales in the summer.
