Nicole Mathers New Advertising Director Of Psychologies

Psychologies Hachette Filipacchi has appointed Nicole Mathers as advertising director of its new woman’s glossy magazine, Psychologies due to launch in September.

Mathers joins Hachette from APC Publishing in Sydney were she worked as associate national advertising director for Madison magazine, a joint venture with Hearst International.

The move will see her working on the UK version of Psychologies with advertising manager, Caroline Lawley and advertising executive, Mary Cavanagh.

Commenting on the appointment, Clare Dempster, group commercial director said: “We are delighted to have Nicole on the team, her extensive launch experience will be invaluable.”

Psychologies is the first magazine to be launched by Hachette Filipacchi UK since the company was established in 2002. The new edition will be entirely a British version, editorially produced and published by a team in the UK, with the launch expected in September 2005 (see Hachette To Psych Out Competition With New Launch).

According to Hachette, Psychologies will define a new sector within the mainstream women’s glossy market to reflect a new kind of female reader, aimed at an audience of women aged 35-55 whose needs are not currently being met by any other women’s magazine.

Psychologies was originally launched in France in 1970, and currently has a larger readership than Cosmopolitan. Worldwide, the title is second only to Marie Claire in the mainstream women’s glossy market.
