ABC Results Jul-Dec 2005:Music Magazines Hit Right Note For Readers

Music Magazines The music magazine market enjoyed a good performance in the latest set of ABC’s, with just two publications dragging the sector down during July to December.

Emap’s flagship music magazine, Q retained its crown as the market leader, pushing its circulation up by 3.7% year on year, commanding a circulation of 168,547.

Mojo continued to do well for Emap, building on increases seen in the last set of ABCs, with a year on year increase of 7.8%. The rock magazine now has a circulation of 120,530.

Kerrang! saw the largest % increase, up by 23.2% year on year, adding 14,321 to bring its circulation up 76,165.

Dance magazine, Mixmag, once again slipped, losing almost 4,000 in circulation with a year on year drop of 8.5% bringing the publications circulation down to 42,234.

Future Publishing’s rock offerings, Classic Rock and Metal Hammer both had successful ABC results, increasing year on year circulation by 19% and 15%, respectively.

IPC Ignite’s NME also managed to gain circulation, enjoying a healthy year on year rise of 9.7%, adding 6,775 to its circulation, whilst the publishers other offering in this sector Uncut fell slightly to 110, 052.

Elsewhere, Rock Sound increased its circulation by 4.6% year on year, while The Fly managed a slight rise of 0.1%.
