Google invests up to $200m in social gaming platform

Google has invested between $100 million and $200 million in online social gaming company Zynga, according to a report from TechCrunch.

Zynga has raised around $500 billion in venture capital in the last year, said TechCrunch, including $150 million from Softbank Capital and $180 million from Digital Sky Technologies, Tiger Global, Institutional Venture Partners and Andreessen Horowitz.

Google will make Zynga the conerstone of its Google Games platform, which is expected to launch later this year.

Zynga is the developer of popular Facebook games including Farmville, Mafia Wars and FrontierVille.
