Videology’s Rhys McLachlan to talk metrics at Connected Consumer

Rhys McLachlan, director of corporate & business development (UK) at Videology, joins the expert panel line-up for MediaTel Group’s upcoming Connected Consumer event on 21 and 24 September.

McLachlan, formerly a managing partner at MediaCom, will appear alongside BSkyB’s Jamie West, BARB’s Bjarne Thelin and SecondSync’s Andy Littledale in the fourth and final session of day two – Metrics.

Speaking to Newsline about metrics in a connected world, McLachlan said: “Measuring what exactly? We’re in an enabled world where outcomes, outputs and actions are almost universally scored, appraised and analysed. In this environment why do we persist in perservering with reach and frequency?”

Day one will be based at i-Burbia, where delegates will have the opportunity to see and test all the latest devices, platforms and technology, including Freesat’s new Freetime box, which was announced last week, the new YouView boxes (all three versions), Apple TV, Google TV, the latest Samsung Smart TV, Virgin Media’s TiVo box, Xbox 360 and many more.

Day two will follow on Monday 24 September at Merrill Lynch, where discussion will focus on content, discovery, technology, the role of existing and new broadcasters and platforms, second screens, the CE businesses, VOD, research and data.

Having spent 16 years working in media agencies, in November 2011 McLachlan joined Videology. He is responsible for managing client relationships across the UK market and expanding the Videology product into new markets and across new platforms and devices.

McLachlan spent the first eight years of his media career as a TV buyer at Universal McCann, before moving to MediaCom as head of implementation and then progressing to managing partner – Futures.
