The Connected Consumer: An a la carte world?

The Connected Consumer: An a la carte world?

Panel debate from the Business Models and Platforms session at MediaTel Group’s Connected Consumer conference yesterday.

Are we likely to see more pay TV sold a la carte? It would seem so judging from the Business Models and Platforms panel at yesterday’s Connected Consumer event.

Emma Scott, MD of Freesat, commented that “pay a la carte is the way things are going. We will move into that space too.” This got a nod of agreement from Sony’s proposition development manager, Edd Uzzell, pointing to Sky’s strategy around Now TV, although he felt this was not suitable for everyone. Some preferred a one stop shop or bundled approach.

Chairman, Raymond Snoddy quoted research that showed bundled subscribers are five times less likely to unsubscribe.
