TV market round-up: October 2014

October saw just one commercial television channel record any notable revenue growth, while the majority of the remaining few recorded declines.

ITV 1 continued to rule the revenue rankings, with a small 0.7% year on year increase seeing the broadcaster secure a little under £139 million; however, the largest growth belonged to Channel 4, which, after a 4.4% YoY boost, saw revenue close in on the £52 million mark.

Channel 5 was hardest hit in October, with a -7.4% YoY decline losing it £2.37 million, while a -6% YoY decrease saw ITV Breakfast drop £800,000.

Overall, Total Terrestrial (inc. ITV Breakfast) was up 0.2% YoY; however, Total Satellite was down a significant -16.6% – a loss of almost £31 million.
