Nielsen acquires FMCG brand content specialists Brandbank

Nielsen, the consumer data specialist, has announced the acquisition of Brandbank, a distributor of rich digital FMCG brand content, for an undisclosed sum.

The move will see Nielsen acquire all Brandbank data, working processes and ongoing client work. It will also integrate Brandbank teams across the UK, and in other European and Asian markets. In addition, the business is in dialogue with Brandbank clients in the US, Canada and Germany.

Brandbank’s clients include Tesco, Boots, P&G, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Amazon, as well as around 3,500 suppliers and manufacturers of more than 250,000 products.

“This acquisition marks an exciting advance in our company’s digital evolution,” said Nielsen global president John J. Lewis. “These new digital capabilities will enrich our existing global product reference information and operational processes to drive greater analytic capabilities for our clients.

“It places Nielsen at the centre of the FMCG/retail demand chain and at the heart of retail. Also, it gives us a pivotal role helping clients to navigate and unlock e-commerce opportunities to engage an increasingly mobile and digitally-oriented generation of shoppers.”
