Aftermath of that fall sees The Island with Bear Grylls net 1.8m

Monday night saw Channel 4 return to The Island with Bear Grylls (9pm) as viewers caught up with the aftermath of that fall while the remaining survivors continued to starve for our entertainment.

One week on from Paddy’s seriously hazardous tumble off a cliff edge and the inhabitants of the planet’s least bountiful landmass were still struggling to get into the whole ‘hunt it, kill it, cook it’ mind-set despite their increasingly noticeable skeletal features.

Last week’s mishap in illness, malnutrition and navigating cliff faces during a storm brought in 1.9 million viewers, failing slightly for yesterday’s difficult rescue mission.

1.8 million viewers watched as the island’s youngest inhabitant was carted away by air ambulance, with an 8% share seeing the survivors’ fortunes change with not one but two actual proper meals.

Although, saying that, Dr. Dan did slice his leg open with a machete, most likely to appease the misery-hungry viewers.

Over on ITV, barmy crazy lady copper drama Marcella (9pm) continued to capture a consistent audience with its latest helping of entertaining paranoia, violent blackouts and self-doubt, as the psychological thriller reached the halfway mark.

The fourth episode saw Anna Friel’s unhinged copper (prone to Hulking out and completely forgetting about it) continue to question whether or not she was in fact the killer she was tasked with finding –  which is not ideal, career wise.

After opening with 5.8 million viewers, the following few episodes saw the blood-soaked show find its loyal audience with yesterday’s instalment securing a 21% share.

Over on BBC One, Peter Kay’s Comedy Shuffle (9pm) allowed viewers to enjoy his cover of (Is This the Way to) Amarillo one more time, securing 4.1 million viewers (down from a début audience of 4.5 million) and an 18% share.

Ben Miller’s new ‘sitcom’ I Want My Wife Back had a bigger week-on-week fall, down from 3.5 million to 2.6 million and a 12% share.

Game-of-Thrones

Over on Sky Atlantic, the now day-old ‘début’ of Game of Thrones‘ sixth series topped the TV Twitter Chart, with The Red Woman‘s reveal providing perfect Twitter-fuel, all the while securing 791,000 viewers and a 4% share despite not answering THAT question.
