Online ABCs: Indy and Telegraph boost traffic by a fifth
Nine of the 10 most popular online news sites recorded an increase in daily browsers in November – with the Telegraph and Independent both boosting traffic by more than a fifth.
The Independent online led the charge – with a 23.4% rise in average daily visitors taking its total to more than 4.61 million. This means the website now draws in more traffic than Trinity Mirror’s Regional Network and is just 300,000 browsers behind the Telegraph.
However, The Telegraph recorded an equally impressive 22.2% increase in browsers, taking its total to 4.91 million – not too far behind the Mirror Group Nationals portfolio which nets around 5.55 million browsers each day.
The Sun’s online site also did well, up 10.2% to just under 3.5 million – while a little further down the table an 18.1% increase in traffic moved the Evening Standard’s audience towards the 700,000 mark.
