the7stars makes senior digital and strategy hires

the7stars, the UK’s largest independent media agency, has announced two senior appointments to strengthen its digital and strategy offerings.

The agency has appointed Julia Connaughton to the role of head of digital while Chris Gilfoy has been named stategy director.

Connaughton takes responsibility for the strategic development of the agency’s digital department, supporting the growth and development of the team and managing digital output.

Connaughton has 16 years’ agency experience and joins from MEC, where she held the position of digital partner. Prior to that she held senior digital roles including head of digital for P&G at Starcom and deputy head of digital at MGOMD. She has led digital activity for major advertising clients such as Kingfisher, Lastminute.com, The Virgin Group, Toys R Us and Visa.

Chris Gilfoy, who joins from his position as director of strategy at WPP-owned agency SYZYGY, is backed by 15 years of client and agency-side experience. He takes responsibility for shaping media and communications strategies for clients of the7stars, working in conjunction with the agency’s insight and planning teams.

“I’m very pleased to welcome Julia and Chris to the team,” said the7stars co-founder Jenny Biggam.

“They are both highly-respected professionals at the top of their respective games, and having them on board strengthens further our client offering in the key areas of digital and strategy.”
