Ex-Havas boss Paul Frampton joins hotel-tech start-up

Tink Labs, a Hong Kong start-up operating in the travel and tourism space, has hired Paul Frampton-Calero as its UK and Ireland CEO.

Frampton-Calero, formerly CEO of Havas Media Group, will focus on the strategic growth of the region, building partnerships across hospitality, e-commerce and advertising for Tink Labs’ flagship product, ‘Handy’. He will report directly to Terence Kwok, founder and CEO of Tink Labs, and starts immediately.

The move is something of a second act for Frampton-Calero who left Havas in 2017 after 20 years with the group and is certainly a departure from the agency environment.

Tink Labs is best-known for its ‘Handy’ product, a hospitality smartphone designed to improve the experience of the guest while boosting ancillary revenues for the hotel. In 2016 the business raised $125 million to expand its idea to cover more hotels worldwide.

“Paul is a proven leader with a track record and extensive experience in growing businesses, building brands and mapping customer journeys across multiple touch points,” said Kwok.

“His passion in the start-up community and the entrepreneurial space makes him the perfect fit for Tink Labs and I am thrilled he will be partnering with us to achieve our vision of creating a travel ecosystem that would deliver better and more intuitive experiences for hotels and travellers.”

Frampton-Calero added: “It is not often that you get the opportunity to work for a business that is unique and reimagining a US$8 trillion global industry.

“There is immense potential with the technology and I am excited at the opportunity to work with the talented team in London, Hong Kong and across the world to take the company forward.”
