Dua Lipa chat-bot sends you a mood-based playlist

Creative technology agency Modern English has launched a facial recognition playlist generator as part of a new promotion of pop star Dua Lipa this week.

The web-app uses an online social messenger to allow fans to interact with a Dua Lipa chat-bot and upload a selfie that is analysed to give them a personal playlist based on what their mood depicts.

The platform was developed in collaboration with WBR in Burbank, Los Angeles, and follows a series of Spotify playlist apps that have been released by Modern English since their Foo Fighters Mixtape Generator in May 2017.

“#DuaMoods has been designed to feel like you have a chat with Dua Lipa and share pictures through social, and she gives you music to listen to based on how you look,” said Andrew Hirst, co-founder, Modern English.

“There are some other really nice features and a few easter-eggs, but also for us it’s the realisation of a wonderful collaboration with the guys at Warner and also the next step in a series of projects that we’ve been developing particularly over the last 18 months.”

Many fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the web-app:

Manchester-based Modern English specialise in creative technology and production. Over the last two years it has delivered more than 100 projects including “socially charged” websites and apps for some of the world’s biggest artists.
