Jamie West to depart Sky Media

The deputy managing director of Sky Media is to leave the business, following two other senior exits over the last two months.

Jamie West, a high-profile name and the figurehead behind Sky’s advanced advertising products, including Sky AdSmart, has been with the commercial broadcaster since 2010 and will depart of his own accord. He had previously worked for Viacom and Channel 5.

An internal memo seen by Mediatel News confirmed the departure on Friday (20 Sept).

“After 10 years, Jamie will leave us at the end of the year and has contributed a huge amount to Sky and been a big part of Sky Media’s success,” said the memo.

It marks Sky’s third senior departure since Comcast’s £30bn takeover in September 2018. Andrew Griffith, chief operating officer and chief financial officer, left in the summer, while Luke Bradley-Jones, UK chief marketing officer, quit last month for a new role at Disney.

West, who reports to Sky Media managing director John Litster, was instrumental in the 2014 launch of Sky AdSmart. The technology provides granular household-level targeting against around 1,300 consumer attributes into set-top boxes and multiscreen devices.

The service now includes Channel 4 and Virgin Media, giving it scale upwards of 30 million people.
