Kantar’s Rob Laurence named new head of Mediatel Connected

Mediatel has this week announced the hire of Rob Laurence to lead its data analysis platform, Mediatel Connected.

Laurence, who joins from Kantar Media where he was TGI product director, has more than 25 years’ experience working in data and research with a strong client focus. He also spent 11 years working for market research company BMRB.

“Mediatel Connected is our flagship product and still leads the industry in information provision,” said Mediatel CEO Greg Grimmer, to whom Laurence will report.

“However, we are always looking to improve and when someone of Rob’s talent and experience approached us it was too good an opportunity not to hire him.

“His wealth of knowledge gleaned at another industry heavyweight like Kantar/TGI will bring a new outlook to our Connected team and I look forward to the product enhancements he will bring to keep Connected at the heart of the media industry.”

Mediatel Connected is used by agencies, media owners, marketing departments and research companies. It is a unique resource for its clients and aggregates key industry data to help planning decisions across all media.

The platform was previously headed by Julie MacManus who has moved into the newly created role of head of business development, working with Grimmer as Mediatel Group explores news areas of growth.

Commenting on his appointment, which begins this week, Laurence added: “I loved my time at Kantar but felt it was time for a new challenge. Mediatel has an excellent reputation in the industry and the Connected platform is highly respected within the sector.

“I look forward to working with Greg and the rest of the business in leading its evolution and delivering a world-class product for clients.”
