Amy Watt has been appointed chief strategy officer of full-service media agency dentsu X, five months after Dentsu announced it would be merging three of its agencies under the brand for the UK market.

Watt joined the agency’s parent company Dentsu Aegis Network three years ago as business strategy partner, helping the business to streamline its operations and processes for clients. Prior to this, she was senior vice-president at IPG Mediabrands and has held roles at FutureBrand and Vizeum.

In her new role, Watt will oversee dentsu X’s strategy output and build growth strategies for its clients, including Jaguar Land Rover, Square and Upfield.

“The purposeful union of four distinct agencies into a full service media agency is hugely exciting. We have a clear vision, great clients and a wonderfully diverse team of people who have quietly been doing impressive things,” Watt said.

“My job is to help them keep doing that together. We’re set up to help brands grow, and that’s a very good reason to come to work every day.”

She will report into UK CEO Patrick Affleck, who added: “Our goal is to help our clients identify and solve their challenges faster, through more effective and creative solutions that defy conventional thinking.

“Amy’s diverse background coupled with her immense ability for making the complex simple for clients will ensure she is a great addition and partner to both our clients and our people.”

Dentsu announced that it was folding digital agency 360i, mobile-first Fetch and social specialists ICUC under the dentsu X brand in June, with the process expected to be completed by 1 January 2020.

The merge aims to form a new “modern marketing agency” offering solutions that focus on the “entire customer experience”.
