Clear Channel wins Hammerson’s digital screens contract

Outdoor media company Clear Channel has been awarded the contract for more than 200 digital advertising screens across some of the UK’s largest shopping centres.

Awarded by Hammerson, the partnership will add 223 screens across 12 UK flagship destinations – including Birmingham’s Bull Ring and London’s Brent Cross – to Clear Channel’s Mall Live network as of June 2020.

According to Clear Channel, the expanded Malls Live offering will cover almost 700 screens across 57 UK shopping centres, with an additional annual footfall of over 200 million and the potential to influence an additional £586 million weekly retail spend.

Justin Cochrane, CEO of Clear Channel UK & Europe, said the media company is “delighted” to partner with Hammerson.

“We see a huge opportunity for advertisers in the retail environment and this partnership will help to bolster our ambitious plans to make the malls advertising proposition even more attractive and valuable to brands in 2020 and beyond,” he said.

Meanwhile, Howard Ebison, Hammerson’s UK & Ireland operations director, added: “We’re committed to making our flagship destinations across the UK as attractive as possible for consumers and brands. That means not only providing the best facilities and a compelling brand mix, but also investing in the broader experience, and that includes the advertising opportunities.

“This partnership with Clear Channel will help ensure brands can deliver a coordinated, engaging narrative across their external channels, as well as reach the millions of consumers that visit our destinations every year. It also brings us in line with the latest developments in the fast moving Out-of-Home advertising market.”
