Bauer Media hires News UK’s Chris Duncan as UK publishing CEO

Chris Duncan has been appointed the new CEO of Bauer Media’s UK publishing business, as Rob Munro-Hall is promoted to president of the publishing business globally.

Duncan has over 20 years’ experience in senior publishing positions, most recently as managing director of platform partnerships at newsbrand publisher News UK. In his 13 years at the company, he held roles including chief customer officer and later managing director of Times Newspapers Limited.

As CEO of UK publishing at Bauer – which publishes magazines including Empire, Grazia and Take A Break – Duncan will report into Munro-Hall, whose own promotion comes following the departure of Sven Dams, formerly co-head of Bauer Media Group’s publishing activities and CEO of the German business.

These changes are made with immediate effect.

“I very much look forward to working with Chris,” Munro-Hall commented.

“His broad experience and publishing expertise will help us retain and further extend our market leading position in the UK.”

Veit Dengler, COO of Bauer Media Group, added: “I have full confidence that Rob Munro-Hall will successfully shape the future of our global publishing business, our largest Business Area, in a time where the publishing markets are experiencing accelerated structural disruption.”
