eBay gains IAB UK Gold Standard 2.0

eBay has become the first e-commerce marketplace to receive the IAB UK’s Gold Standard 2.0 certification for rigorous online advertising standards.

Launched in September 2020, the IAB Gold Standard 2.0 certification requires participating companies that buy or sell digital media to demonstrate the highest credentials in combating ad fraud, improving the user experience and ensuring a safe environment for both brands and users.

Harmony Murphy, GM advertising UK at eBay, said: “At eBay we recognise that we have a duty to advance and improve the advertising ecosystem, and are dedicated to collaborating with industry partners such as the IAB to help build a sustainable future for digital advertising.

“We are proud to be the first marketplace to be certified IAB Gold Standard 2.0 and are strongly committed to ensuring eBay remains an industry leader when it comes to user experience, combating ad fraud, and creating a safe environment for brands and shoppers alike.”

Joining other leading digital platforms in achieving the new standard, eBay has also adopted IAB Europe’s Transparency & Consent Framework 2.0 – one of the new requirements of the latest Gold Standard certification.

Nickesh Patel, ad tech & standards manager at IAB UK, said: “Gold Standard 2.0 is a central part of our work to build a sustainable future for digital advertising, and we’re delighted to have eBay certified under the latest criteria.

“By demonstrating its commitment to upholding the principles of the Gold Standard, eBay is helping to create a more responsible digital ad ecosystem that prioritises the user experience.”
