ITV scores 26m audience peak for historic England Euros win

A massive 25.7 million people watched England beat Denmark live last night on ITV and reach the European Championships Final for the first time.

The broadcaster, which showed the game exclusively in the UK between 6.30pm and 11.15pm on 7 June, had an average audience rating of 16.7 million.

The audience peaked at 25.71 million at about 10.30pm, when England clinched a 2-1 victory after extra time.

This equated to a 71% share of all TV audience viewing at that time, according to Barb overnight figures measured at five-minute intervals.

The overnight figures so not include catch-up viewing figures on ITV's streaming service ITV Hub, which could net ITV another several million views based on recent behaviour throughout the Euro 2020 tournament.

ITV shares the UK broadcast rights for Euro 2020 with the BBC and the final on Sunday 11 July, in which England will take on Italy at Wembley Stadium, will be simulcast on each ITV and BBC One.

It is the first time England has reached the European Championship final and only the second time the national football team has reached a major final.
