Craft Media hires ex-Sky head of planning Goldsmith

Craft Media London has hired Jon Goldsmith, the former head of planning at Sky, to join as a business director.

Goldsmith has been tasked with leading on client service and planning expertise for the media planning agency’s client roster, which includes BrewDog, The Body Shop, Avon, and Treatwell.

Having begun his career at media agencies Total Media and MPG (now Havas Media), Goldsmith joined MediaCom in 2011 and latterly became associate director in a five-year stint at the WPP shop.

He then joined the in-house media team at Sky (a MediaCom client) in 2016, where he became head of media and then head of planning.

Goldsmith is credited with leading the £30m through-the-line product launch campaign for Sky Q in 2018, as well as channel relaunches for Sky One, Sky Sports, Sky Cinema and app launches for Sky Go.

Craft Media is a communications planning agency set up in 2018 by former Initiative MD Sally Weavers and ex-Maxus (now Wavemaker) global creative director Jen Smith with a stated aim to “put the Craft back into planning”.

Weavers said: “Craft has been on a phenomenal trajectory over the last three-and-a-half years, from Jen and I stealing Wi-Fi and coffee from creative agencies, to a 15-strong squad, racking up 57 projects so far this year, developing award-winning work and incredible relationships with clients, creatives and media partners. We could not be more excited to welcome Jon into our growing organisation.”
