Sky’s first streaming TV launches

Sky has launched a streaming TV product, Sky Glass, which may signal the end of satellite dishes on people’s houses.

Sky Glass integrates hardware, software and content meaning viewers can access content from across Sky and other catch-up and streaming services in one place over wifi, without the need for a dish or set-top box.

Sky Glass will be available to purchase in the UK from 18 October and in other European markets from next year. Monthly subscription plans will be on offer.

Sky Glass will also contain voice and motion technology so users can activate the TV by saying “Hello Sky” or walking past the device.

Sky says it is the world’s first TV to be designated a carbon-neutral  product.
