GroupM exec Paul Rowlinson set to depart

Paul Rowlinson, a 16-year GroupM veteran, is leaving the WPP media-buying group and the media industry.

Announcing his imminent departure on LinkedIn this morning, Rowlinson said he was (genuinely) going to pursue other interests” including exploring the West Country where he now lives.

Rowlinson was latterly UK managing director for GroupM Digital for just under four years until a year ago he was made chief client engagement and growth officer as part of a leadership reshuffle by CEO Karen Blackett.

He previously spent 12 years at Group M agency Mindshare, where he rose to become chief operating officer after several lead investment roles where he led teams of media buyers.

Today is the beginning of his last week at GroupM, Rowlinson said.

Blackett told Mediatel News: “We would like to thank Paul for his exceptional contributions to the group and wider media industry over the years and we wish him all the best and a very happy retirement. We are in the process of hiring a replacement and will announce that appointment in due course.”
