Rapide Titles Up For Sale As Business Folds

24 Sep 1999  |  MediaTel Staff

The computer, videogames and internet titles of Rapide Publishing have been put up for sale following the closure of the business. All Rapide staff have been left without jobs as the company was forced to cease trading in the face of mounting debts.

A former editor on one of Rapide's Playstation titles told Newsline that the business, which had been developing strongly, effectively overexpanded in too short a space of time. Rapide's titles included Total Playstation and Ultimate PC and the group was about to launch Total Dreamcast.

Rapide published nine computing and Net titles in the UK along with a number of European editions. The company is currently holding discussions with a number of publishers with a view to selling parts or all of the portfolio. A staffer at Rapide said that it was looking hopeful that a sale would be made.
