November ABCs: A tough month for newspapers

No national newspaper was able to record any period-on-period growth in November and only one title - The Daily Telegraph - recorded year-on-year growth (but at just 0.7%, it was not much to celebrate).

According to the latest ABC data the best performing title in November was the Guardian - which managed to match October's sales figures. Otherwise, all titles recorded declines raging from -0.3% (Daily Mail), to -2.9% (Financial Times).

Overall, the entire daily market was down -1.1% between October and November, and was down -6.9% over the year.

It was a similar picture in the Sunday market where only the Sunday Times saw any growth - an extra 146 copies sold - otherwise the entire market was down -1.7%, period-on-period, and -10.5% year-on-year.

In the free market, the London Evening Standard also witnessed a drop in circulation in November, recording a -0.2% decline (amounting to almost 1,400 fewer copies), while circulation for City A.M. dropped -0.4% and and Metro (London) -0.2%.

Overall the market was down -0.2% in November and -0.5% year-on-year.
