ABC Jul – Dec 2001 Music Titles

Emap’s Kerrang! was the biggest mover in the music sector, with circulation rising 63.5% to 76,841 following the renewed interest in heavy metal music brought on by bands such as Limp Bizkit, Korn and Alien Ant Farm. Future Publishing’s Metal Hammer also benefited from the increasing popularity of guitar-based rock and its 8% increase helped the sector to see circulation rise by 9% overall.

At the other end of the scale Emap’s Mixmag and Ministry Of Sound’s Ministry both saw circulation fall, reflecting the decline of dance music in the UK charts. Mixmag saw circulation slip 5.5% to 100,277 and Ministry dipped 8.1% to 83,006 despite the launch of Ministry of Sound Radio last August (see Ministry Launches On FM).

Elsewhere in the sector, Mojo managed a 15.3% rise bringing circulation to just under 97,000 and IPC Ignite’s veteran NME, which is in the midst of its 50th birthday celebrations, managed to halt the decline in its circulation with a modest 0.6% rise.
